Who Should Attend: This course is designed for operators and maintainers of wastewater treatment & collection systems and water treatment & distribution systems.

Description: This course will present the basic information necessary for understanding of chemical and biological characteristics and electricity as associated with the treatment, collection, and distribution of wastewater and water. Please bring a calculator to class.

Topics include:

• Chemistry: Water - the universal solvent, solutions, ions, pH, alkalinity
  Descriptions of solids: total, settable, suspended, dissolved & colloidal
• The Microlife: Bacteria, protozoans, metazoans, algae, and fungi: types of, energy sources, and habitats.
• Electrical: Basic electrical units and symbols, open and closed circuits, safety
